The NIH Center for Somatic Cell Genome Editing (CSGE) in Nonhuman Primates was established to provide collaborative opportunities to NIH investigators nationwide. The CSGE is actively engaged in all aspects of somatic cell genome editing research, and ensures contributions that will have a sustained, powerful impact on the translation of new and emerging technologies for patients across all age groups, including the youngest patients in need.

The overall vision for the Center includes an organizational structure based on highly successful gene therapy and somatic cell genome editing programs that advance new translational studies in nonhuman primates across age groups, models, and approaches; supportive collaborative research opportunities that are available to investigators nationwide through the provision of expertise and resources that will accelerate and support their translational preclinical research; collaborations for new NIH grants, TARGETED Challenge, and ARPA-H submissions, and synergism and sharing across the program and with other small and large animal testing centers, the research community, and the NIH.

The Center for Somatic Cell Genome Editing in Nonhuman Primates is supported by the NIH Office of the Director (OD) through the Office of Research Infrastructure Programs, Division of Comparative Medicine.
